Prospect Hall/Shepherd's Bakery

According to the man at number 18 Shepherd's Bakery are trying to poison the residents in the surrounding area with a complex mixture of noxious chemicals. He came round, not long after we moved in, to tell us that the Bakery might cause our young children to develop abnormalities. He was particularly exercised because Shepherds were planning to build extra capacity into the tight area they operate from, bounded on 3 sides by residential properties and the community hall on the other. He said on some days when they were using particular  processes he could not have his windows open for fear of the damage it would do him and his wife. As a new neighbour I stood in the open doorway, patiently listening and nodding and trying to think of the correct combination of solicitous neighbourliness, noncommital openness and a strong silent indication that I had far better things to be doing apart from letting cold air in. I managed to get him to go after 15 minutes without signing his petition.
I enjoy the days when you can smell the bread being baked but won't buy it anymore. It tastes funny. Probably all the chemicals.
